Being a Muggleborn, you’re probably wondering how you are able to be a witch or wizard. Well, it can be traced back to Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. Yes, he is a muggle and he was born in England in 1809, but his theory is evident across the world, in the wizarding and non-wizarding worlds alike.
During his journey, he visited the Galápagos Islands. Here is where he started questioning why there are different types of plants and animals. After he got back, he started working on his theory of evolution. He worked very hard for years on his book. Then a man named Alfred Wallace sent Darwin an essay that described the same Evolutionary idea, that Charles had. So, Darwin published his book, before anyone else could steal his ideas, in 1859. Darwin's Evolutionary theory is still used to explain evolution today. Everything has an origin, we don't look exactly like our ancestors because small changes occur over time. Evolution also occurs due to Natural Selection. Early humans lived in Central Africa. Most of them were covered in hair and under the hair was very light skin. The people with lots of hair got too hot and the people with less hair didn't. So the people with less hair were able to survive and pass their genes on. But then they got skin cancer due to their skin being overly exposed to the sun. The people with darker skin, however, were able to survive and pass on their genes. Humans then started moving around the world. When they got to Europe the dark skin wasn't needed. The darker skinned people were getting sick due to the lack of Vitamin D, but the lighter skinned people weren't, so they were able to survive and pass on their genes. Chickens are the closest thing to the T-Rex that is around right now and due to the small changes that were made over time, the dinosaur gene is inactive. There are scientists trying to reactivate the dinosaur gene in the chickens to make little dinosaurs.
