2/14/2019 Active ShooterSpeaker: Officer Gebhart Credentials: He is a Penn Township Police Officer. He has been through this type of situation before. What do active shooters have to do with you, a witch/wizard? Well stay and read so I can you. An active shooter typically will aim for largely populated areas. In a situation like this you must; Flee, Fortify, and Fight. Flee: If you are able to get out of the situation, to the road, do that quietly and make sure that you don't bring anything else with you. If you leave the building make sure that you do not go back into the building, for anything, until the threat is taken care of.
Ah, now what to do with all of this knowledge? After all, witches and wizards don't use guns. Let's just say that a powerful wizard (or witch) has come to Hogwarts and had gotten in somehow or one of your peers decided that they've had enough and want to start shooting dangerous spells. How are you going to survive that attack? Well first, you should try to flee. But if you can't, you must get into a room and secure it quietly. Sure it may be easy with a wand to open a door, but it will be hard with things in the way. Next, call the Ministry of Magic. They will know exactly what to do. Make sure you tell them everything you know about your situation so they can send the Aurors, they are basically the police of the magical world. Now think of any of the spells that you have learned so far. Even the simplest ones can do damage. Now you may be wondering what this has to do with surviving your first year, because attacks like this don't happen often. The point is that they do happen. When I was a first year I heard a story of a student who used wingardium leviosa to fight a troll, and they won! You never know what will happen, but you should try to always be prepared to survive.
